The Pursuit of Holiness - Chapter 4

Each week's study has brought us new understanding about the believer's pursuit of holiness. This week we were asked to delve into The Holiness of Christ. Focusing on Christ's holiness helps us to thwart Satan's attacks and also serves as an example for us to follow. As Bridges said, "In all of our thoughts, all of our actions, in every part of our character, the ruling principle that motivates and guides us should be the desire to follow Christ in doing the will of the Father."

We would love to hear how you have caught a glimpse of Christ's holiness this week and how you have been seeking to follow Him as your role model. As always, please keep your comments current and on topic.

We'll accept comments for this chapter through June 30. We will cover Chapters 5 and 6 during the week of July 1-7. We look forward to reading about your thoughts and insights.

The Pursuit of Holiness – Chapter 3

As we continue together in our study of The Pursuit of Holiness, we learn in Chapter 3 that we are made holy in our standing before God through Christ and that we are called to be holy in our daily lives. We also see that “if there is not, then, at least a yearning in our hearts to live a holy life pleasing to God, we need to seriously question whether our faith in Christ is genuine.” This chapter also lists four key aspects to a successful Christian walk that are based on holiness.

We are excited to hear how Chapter 3 has impacted you. How will you put what you’ve learned this week into practice? As always, please remember to keep you comments current and on topic.

Comments for Chapter 3 will be accepted through June 23, 2008. We will cover Chapter 4 during the week of June 24-30.

The Pursuit of Holiness – Chapters 1 & 2

Is there any better way to begin the summer than studying about the holiness of God and how His holiness should impact every area of our lives? Chapter 1 reminds us that all Christians are called to lead a holy life, a life lived “in conformity to the moral precepts of the Bible.” We are also given three basic problem areas that hinder our growth in holiness. Chapter 2 provides a definition of the holiness of God; it is “the absolute absence of any evil.” Because God is holy, His reaction to sin is also covered in this chapter.

Now it’s your turn! What have you learned in Chapters 1 & 2? How will these insights impact your life? How have some of your previously held beliefs been confirmed or challenged? We look forward to hearing from you as we share insights with one another this week. Please remember to keep comments current and on topic.

Comments for Chapters 1 & 2 will be accepted through June 16, 2008. We will cover Chapter 3 June 17 – 23.
